Have you got a party or a date to go on? Need a quick, simple way to apply your eye makeup? Here are 8 simple steps in applying your eye makeup for a flawless, beautiful finish!

1. Prep your eyes with a concealer

Concealers can be used to cover up any under eye circles or just the bluish discoloration under the eyes. To cover these apply three dots of concealer under each of your eyes. You will need to start in the inner corner where the skin is usually darkest, then apply under pupil and on outer edge. Always pat it down, never rub it in! Use your ring finger until it has disappeared.

2. Apply a base to your eye lids

This is the secret to lasting eyeshadow! Make sure you properly prime your lid first, otherwise your eyeshadow could crease!

3. Apply eyeshadow

The best eyeshadows are a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow. Alowing them to blend into eachother, always starting with a light colour which almost matches your lid. Sweep the colour across the lid and up to your browbone. Follow the medium colours across your lid only. Build on these with a darker colour on the crease. Making sure you blend the colours in well!

4. Apply your eyeliner

Dark eye shadows work great as eyeliners! Wet a small, slanted brush then dip into the dark eyeshadow. Line your eyes as close to the upper lashes as you can, from the inner to outer corners. Use eyeliner on the bottom eyes but start in the middle an go outwards. If you are looking for a smokey look then use another brush to pat in the dark eyeshadow on both the upper and lower lid. Or just use a pencil eyeliner and do the same steps, except apply lightly and use a smudger to create a smokey look. 5. Brighten your eyes

Use this only on the inside part of the eye. With a gold or pink highlighter (white may be too bright) draw on the V-Shape part of the eye and then blend with your fingers.

6. Highlight your brow

Use the highlighter and dab it on your brow bone, from the middle and outwards. Then blend with your fingers.

7. Curl your lashes

You will need an eyelash curler for this. You can heat these up for an added effect with a hair dryer but make sure you test it first making sure its not too hot! Never use a curler after putting on mascara!

8. Apply your mascara

But you really need to know what eyeliners are great so you can get the best results you possibly can. I have gathered a few of my favourite eyeliners ranging from Napoleon Perdis to MAC.

6. Exaggerate Automatic Waterproof Eye Definer - Rimmel

This eyeliner comes with a smudger and sharpener attached to the end. It will glide on smoothly and will remain sharp. This is truly a great eyeliner and is definitely worth a try!

5. Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner

This eyeliner will add beautiful definition to your eyes for up to 16 hours! This waterproof formula won’t smear, smudge or fade and is also available in 8 shades!

4. Unstoppable Eyeliner - Maybelline

This is a great eyeliner as you don’t need to use those annoying sharpeners all you have to do is twist and up it comes. This liner is waterproof and will glide on to define your eyes effortlessly leaving an ultra-smooth, gorgeous outcome. It is smudge-proof, self sharpening, safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers, and ophthalmologist tested. This is definitely one of my favourite eyeliners!

3. MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil

This liner is waterproof, long wearing, metallic, shimmer and matte finishes. It is really smooth to apply and wont transfer, smudge or budge!

2. Estee Lauder Artists Eye Pencil

This formula is not too hard and not too soft. It will glide on smoothly for a defined, stay in place colour. You can flip the pencil around and also use the smudger to create a perfect look. This liner is Dermatologist tested, Ophthalmologist tested and suitable for contact lens wearers.

1. Napoleon Perdis Eye Pencil

This pencil has an easy application due to its creamy smooth formula that enhances and seriously defines eyes. This is my favourite eyeliner at the moment, it works really well and doesn’t smudge!

Lashes will be thickened, shaped and lengthened. This is quite a heavy mascara and you only need a little. It comes in waterproof and washable.

4.Original Voluminous Mascara - Loreal

This has a unique maximizing formula which quickly thickens and builds lashes in a single application. No smudges or clumps, Ophthalmologist tested, allergy tested, fragrance free, suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

3. 2000 Calorie Mascara - Maxfactor

This mascara will deliver a sooty, smoky look. It will fatten up each lash for a dramatic, lush effect. This is touchproof, easily removed, hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

2. Luxurious Lengths Mascara - Revlon

Lancome Occilation

Another mascara which I have heard is great is the Lancome Occilation, take a look at this review and let me know what you think!

Most skin problems are only temporary but we all know how annoying and unsightly they are! As for permanant skin problems we may not be able to get rid of them but atleast we can hide them without painful plastic surgery.

I have written up a few simple steps that will help hide those skin problems:

Pimples

Do not try to pop your pimples as this will make it worse and leave you with an open, bleeding wound which will look even more unsightly. You can take the redness away with some salt, crushed asprin, or by pressing it with a cold spoon,

To cover up your makeup apply an astringent solution which will close the pores and also so that the dirt won’t get into the pores. Then you will need to appy a green concealer as this will neutralize redness (making sure you blend in well) then you will need to apply foundation. To set makeup, use a loose powder if you would like to have a more natural outcome.

Cold Sores

You can now buy cold sore pathes which will heal them and also stop them spreading! Use a concealer to cover them up, followed by applying a foundation around it and try touch up your makeup whenever you need to. Apply a thouch of powder to make the patch less shiny.

Wrinkles

Use a pearly, white eyeliner pencil and mark a smooth line in the center of the wrinkle, then apply a creamy foundation. If your wrinkles are pretty deep use a mature skin foundation as this will restore your elasticity and your foundation won’t settle into the creases.

Facial Scars

You can use special medical makeup products. These have a high coverage and are especially made for facial scars, you may also use these for pimples, wounds and bruises. Green concealers are used to disguise redness and yellowish/orange ones are used for blue undertones.

After camoflaging the problem areas, use a liquid concealer to even out the skin tone, followed by using a high coverage foundation.

Freckles

You will need an illuminating foundation or a high coverage foundation. You must also find the right shade which is also very important, by matching it to the chest and shoulders, which are usually darker than the rest of your face. You must apply to the face and then blend it slightly to your neck.

Flawless, well textured and perfect makeup is all about blending and using the right makeup products and tools, that is why you will always need a great set of brushes and other makeup tools such as tweezers, sponges, eyelash curler, and puffs. These are all essential in any application of makeup. These tools will make the application of makeup easier and more professional looking. Using the right tool is the way to make different products go on correctly and give you the intended look you want.

Makeup brushes come in a variety of forms and shapes. Every brush has its own function. The brushes are usually made from red or black sable, ox hair and camel hair. A set of good brushes should include a big, soft brush for powder, a fine brush for the eyelids, a flat brush for the eyeshadow and an eyebrow comb. Rounded brushes are used for eye-lining and character lining. The flat brushes are used for eye-colour application, lip colour application and blending.

Powder brushes

These brushes are full and round in shape and are the largest out of all the other brushes. These brushes are mainly used for loose, bronzing and pressed powder. It is also used to sweep away excess powder from the face. Make sure that you blow off the excess powder off the brush before you apply other colours to your face.

Blush Brushes

These brushes are slightly flatter in shape than the powder brushes. This will allow you to apply the blusher evenly. Blush brushers are mainly designed to define the cheek bones.

Eyeliner Brushes

These are the smallest type of brush and have a fine trapped end. This will allow the fine lines to be drawn around the eye and they are also ideal for creating a thin and well-controlled line. These brushes can be used for both powder and cream eyeliners.

Eyeshadow Brushes

These come in a variety of forms. The softer the brush is, the more diffused and easily blended the eye shadow will be.

Concealer Brushes

These are used for concealling any blemishes on the face including pimples, scars, and large pores. Using this brush will help distribute cream makeup evenly.

Lipstick Brushes

Brushes like these are small and stiff brush with a straight edge. These are used for outlining to lips as well as applying the colour. By doing this it will last longer and define the lips.

Sponges

These are generally used for foundation, cream, powder blush or concealer application.

Puffs

These are best for applying powder, powder foundation or powder blush. Personally i would only use these for powder foundation.

Tweezers

Tweezers are mandatory in your brush kit. Make sure you get a good pair of tweezers as some can be dodgy and wont work properly. Manicare sell a great range of tweezers, which i use personally. Remove any stray hairs around your eyebrows which would spoil the eyeshadow application

Eyelash Curler

When curling the eyelashes your eyes will appear wider, brighter and highlighted. There are two types of curlers - metal and plastic. Personally i believe that the metal ones are better. NOTE: Always curl your eyelashes before applying mascara!

This has a combination of oil free, moisturizing ingrediant. It contains a multi-vitamin complex which will help to ensure ongoing radiance, vitality, protection and hydration for your skin.

Clinique Soft Finish Makeup ($19.50)

This is moisture giving, line softening makeup for all dry skins. It has optical diffusers that will minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The finishing touch of a soft, natural and gorgeous skin.

Shesiedo Benefiance Enriched Revitalizing Foundation ($42.00)

This foundation provides a flawless finish and reduces fine lines. This will also help protect the skin from environmental damage as it has a SPF15. This is a great smoothing foundation. It contains micro-fine powder and will make your skin feel smooth and silky.

This foundation is especially designed to remove those annoying fine lines and deeply moisturize the skin all day long.

The best foundation for oily skin are always oil-free and provide a matte finish, sheer and good coverage. Those with an oily skin type may use a liquid foundation, powder and stick foundation.

Loreal Ideal Balance - Balancing Foundation ($11.50)

This liquid foundation is designed for people with combination to oily skin. It has several special values such as absorbing excess oils, white lotus flower moisturizes and soothes dry areas. This foundation is oil-free and has a soft matte finish.

This applied quickly and easily, it has a varied coverage from light to full without that heaviness. This foundation will conceal fine lines and imperfections for a flawless appearance. It is long lasting, has dewy-moist feel of just applied makeup. It also maintain a true colour, with fresh looking finish for hours!

Yves Saint Laurent Oil Free Foundation ($48.00)
